Aroma Hookah
Not every good hookah has to cost as much as a weekend away. Aroma Hookah has built its whole approach around that idea: Ukrainian craftsmanship, modern materials, and prices that leave room for a decent bowl and charcoal too.
Steel and Aluminium, Cleanly Finished
The build here is straightforward in the best sense of the word.
Stainless steel handles the internals and everything in contact with water, which is the part that determines how long a stem actually lasts. Aluminium components sit on the outside in contemporary finishes. There’s no unnecessary ornament — the appeal comes from proportion and finish rather than decoration.
The Tango is the model most people meet first, and it’s a fair introduction to how the brand thinks: clean lines, solid weight, nothing fighting for attention.
Sized for Real Rooms
These are mid-height pipes, and that turns out to be the size most people actually want.
Tall enough to feel substantial on a table. Short enough to store in a cupboard and carry to a friend’s place without needing a case designed for luggage. If your last hookah was either too big to leave out or too small to take seriously, this is the middle ground you were looking for.
Mid-height also has a practical benefit. Shorter downstems are easier to clean properly, and a lower centre of gravity means fewer nervous moments when someone reaches across the table.
Bowls and Extras
Aroma also makes ceramic bowls and accessories designed around its own stems, including a carry bag for transport.
Buying within one brand isn’t essential — most fittings here are standard — but it does mean gaskets seat properly first time and you spend less of your evening hunting for a part that almost fits. The carry bag in particular is worth considering if the hookah is going to move around.
What You Still Need to Buy
Worth being clear about, since sets vary.
Check whether your chosen model includes a vase. Beyond that you’ll want charcoal, tongs, and either foil or a heat management device. A bowl may or may not be in the box. None of this is expensive, but it’s better to order it together than to discover on the night that you’re missing tongs.
A Sensible First Upgrade
If you’re moving on from a starter hookah and aren’t ready to spend heavily on a premium name, this is a reasonable step up.
You get proper materials rather than plated pot metal, a stable build, and a stem that will still be working in a few years. It’s the kind of purchase that teaches you what you actually want from a hookah, without committing to the top of the market before you know.
Everyday Maintenance
Rinse the stem after each session and give it a proper brush every few uses. Stainless steel internals don’t need special treatment, but residue builds up in the downstem faster than anywhere else, so that’s where the brush should go first.
Dry the threaded sections before you put it away. Store the vase separately if you can — most breakages happen to assembled hookahs sitting in cupboards.
Colours and Finishes
The palette here stays deliberately restrained. Rather than chasing bright anodised patterns, Aroma leans on solid finishes and polished metal — black, steel and darker tones dominate the range.
That’s a sensible decision at this price point. Bold colour is the first thing that dates, and a plain steel finish still looks right in five years. It also makes the hookah easier to live with in a shared space, where a neon splash-pattern stem can be a harder sell.
If you want your setup to be a statement piece, this probably isn’t the brand. If you want something that quietly looks good on a table, it very much is.
Take a look at the Aroma Hookah collection and see what a well-judged mid-range setup looks like.
