Anyone who is interested in hookah knows that its most important element is not the water pipe itself, but the central role is played by the bowl. It is in the bowl that we place the tobacco or other type of food cartridge, it is in the bowl that the tobacco is roasted, and finally it is in the bowl that the smoke is generated, which we then inhale. The bowl determines the taste of the smoke, its strength, as well as the length of the smoke – choosing the right one is a key issue in preparing a successful session. In this video we will present some of the best bowls available for purchase.

Masta

The Maklaud bowl costs just £30 and at first glance is not particularly impressive – the crude face is reminiscent of the bowls added to some cheap water pipe sets. This, however, is only an appearance, as the manufacturer has used a good grade of clay, and the accessory itself is lightweight and easy to handle. A suitable addition to more budget sets for aspiring shishamasters.

Slightly more experienced water pipe users are recommended Solaris bowls, although many have had experience with them. A great design is responsible for their popularity, which allows the tobacco to reach a very high temperature – enough to draw out a strong flavor, but not enough to burn the tobacco. It’s good to have some familiarity with hookah to effectively control the heating.

New on the market are the Alpha Bowl bowls. The Turk model has a rather shallow bottom, but holds approx. 20 grams of tobacco. Its design allows for balanced heating and you don’t have to worry about the tobacco burning quickly. This also makes it an ideal bowl for beginners, although it is from the middle range.

Less accessible to use, on the other hand, is the Cosmo Bowl. It is heavy and very hot, so tobaccos not adapted to high temperatures will not burn well on it. We recommend it to seasoned shishamasters, who will be able to extract the maximum potential from it.

Hookah connoisseurs need no introduction to the UPG bowl. For those who have not heard of it – it is an absolute classic among clay mast, optimized for heating tobacco. The fact that it is used during tobacco testing is a testament to its quality. An obligatory piece of equipment for any shishamaster.

Phunnel

KS company is famous for its very wide range of bowls, and the KS Player model is their flagship phunnel. Its thick walls absorb a lot of heat and prevent the tobacco from overheating or even burning. This gives it exceptional versatility – regardless of the species of tobacco and the way it is whipped, you can get a rich aroma. Among phunnels, the KS Player is the best bowl to start with.

Tangiers dark tobacco is accepted to be smoked with Alpaca and HookahJohn bowls. In our opinion, they are surpassed by the Tangiers Iridescence phunnel, which was made specifically for the demanding tobacco of the same brand. It has an original design with a wide promontory, on which not one, but six holes were placed. The thin walls of the trough will allow the contents of the accessory to be properly reheated. Recommended for fans of smoking stronger tobacco, especially with the use of a combination of punched aluminum foil and the Apple on Top Provost heat management system.

Speaking of HMD overlays, mention should be made of the Quasar Raas 2. This is an improved and simplified version of the well-known hybrid glass bowl. The predecessor was prone to malfunctions, and in the new version the manufacturer has made every effort to make use faultless. This is a good bowl for those shishamasters who have trouble lighting up their Hookahs with clay bowls. If your tobacco burns out quickly, the Quasar Raas 2 will save you time and effort, albeit at the price of a less pronounced flavor.
